Zygmunt Stary (the Old, 1506-1548), king of Poland and grand duke of Lithuania. Last but one of the kings of the Jagiellon dynasty. He strengthened the position of the Kraków mint, tried to introduce more order into the legislation concerning income from mines, including salt mines.
