Room 203
The Jadwiga room

Jadwiga Angevin (1384-1399) was the youngest daughter of Ludwik the Hungarian and Elizabeth the Bosnian. She was crowned king as Polish law did not allow a queen to inherit the throne. According to the Krew union, Jadwiga and the grand duke of Lithuania, Jagiełło, were married on 18 February 1386 in the Wawel cathedral. After her death her property was given to the Kraków Academy. She was proclaimed a saint by pope John Paul II on 8 June 1997.
